Lucy Thomas wandered the halls of the FBI office in Quantico. She was used to HQ, and this place was bigger than she expected. She was here for a meeting; all the HRT specialists were getting together to discuss some new techniquest that had been invented and she was trained, so she was there.
She found the Bullpen belonging to the elite BAU, and went in-surely someone there could help her.

Lucy looked around. She was a bit unsure about where she was, precisely. She meanadered around, trying to connect hallways with the printed map in her hand that her new boss had e-mailed her. She was slowly getting the hang of things, and found herself in the BAU. Perfect. These people were smart; they could help her.
Just as she was about to enter the Bullpen area, a tallish, pretty brunette passed.
"Hi, I'm Paige, can I help you?" [/ib] Lucy nodded, and smiled.
Yes, hello. I am sorry; I am bit lost, I think. I am looking for David Rossi?! I am supposed to chat with him about his time with the Hostage Rescue Team... Lucy nodded. The man was brilliant, and darn good at his job, but, by all accounts, he was quite the playboy, and she felt a bit nervous about meeting him.

Paige nodded. "I can help you with that. I'll show you where his office is." She led the woman up to David's office and knocked on the closed door. Paige realized she didn't know this woman's name. "I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch your name," she said meeting the woman's eyes.

Clark was passing through the bullpen on his way back from one errand or another for Hotch when he noticed an interloper in the office--he couldn't place it, but he knew he had seen the woman somewhere in his forgotten past, and his extrasensory perception sensed... something about her, like she had a degree of the same capabilities of he himself, Paige and their unborn child.
Noticing a barely-perceptible blip from the stranger, he clamped down on his own mind, noticing his pregnant fiancee distracting her. Thanks, hon, he projected to her as he slunk unseen over to his lair while she led the new arrival up to Rossi's office.

Lucy spoke to Paige again.
Sorry. I am SSA Lucy Thomas. I work for Hostage Rescue, but Agent Rossi has some pertaninent information, and I'd like to pick his brain. Lucy followed the woman, noticing that there was a bit of psychic phenomenon happening around her. Her gifts weren't as good as some, but they were there when she chose to be aware of them.

"Well, I mostly just stay here in the BAU--except for when we have cases--and fill out paperwork for either pending cases or old cases that need finishing," Paige said. "Hmm, I was sure Rossi was in here....Oh! There he is," she said turning back around where Rossi was entering from the hallway.

I see. Well, that is helpful, I am sure. Sounds rather boring, actually. I hoped that Profiling would be the exciting thing that everyone makes it out to bed, but it appears I am mistaken. Just then, Lucy spotted the man. He was distinguishable; not only had his reputation preceded him, but she recognized his photo from several cases and FBI accolades.
Thank you for your help. She said to Paige as she approached the office. Into the universe, she sent out a silent thought.

"It's not actually that boring. The cases do bring some action with them. I wouldn't call it fun but rarely boring," Paige said. "You're welcome," she replied.

Just then, Dave stepped out of the office to refill his Thermos of coffee, only to find the two women right in front of his door. "How are you two doing today?" he asked, giving his expectant colleague a fatherly peck on the cheek, then stepping back. "Are you going to introduce me to your... new friend?"
Introductions made, he gently kissed the new arrival's hand. "Dave Rossi, senior profiler and official team Old Fart. So, what can the BAU, what can I, do for you today?" he asked as he ushered Lucy in.

Lucy was taken a bit aback. She wasn't sure how she should respond. She lowered her blue eyes to the woman's very pregnant stomach.
Wow, how far along are you?! I just returned from maternity leave myself...my daughter was born a few months ago.... Lucy felt silly. But really, she was just here to see Rossi. She was feeling a bit awkward; she was unused to the sheer number of people that the BAU currently hired. She had thought that it was specialty, but she was apparently wrong-more people could do it than she thought.
Just then, the man of the hour appeared.
Dave Rossi, senior profiler and official team Old Fart. So, what can the BAU, what can I, do for you today? Lucy smiled.
Well, I came by for your input. I am trying to do a review on dynamic entries, and was hoping for your opinions. Thanks for meeting with me, she said, with a smile. She followed him into his office, with a quick aside to Paige.
Thanks for your help. Good luck on your pregnancy. Enjoy it!

"Please, make yourself comfortable--can I get you a cup of coffee or something before we start?" Dave asked, pulling out a chair for the young woman.
"I'll be glad to help, but it's been a while since I did textbook work on Dynamic Entry, so you might also want to talk to Agent Clark downstairs--our Forensic Countermeasures expert doesn't talk to people not on the team much, but you've obviously made an impression on his fiancee, and that will help you a lot," he suggested as he looked over his bookcase, finally finding the tomes he was looking for.
They spent a few minutes going over the basics, then a thought came to him. "Is this just a refresher on the basics, or is there something a little more... special... coming up you're preparing for?"

Lucy did as asked, and settled in a chair that Dave had indicated for her. She noticed a tiny redhead peek in, but the woman left quickly, likely realizing that he was busy. She didn't ask, though, because she didn't really know the dynamics around here.
Please, make yourself comfortable--can I get you a cup of coffee or something before we start? She smiled.
If it's not a bother, please...I take it black. She had, for years. Something inside of her, a primal need to connect with her lost family members, perhaps, had been the drive for her to take her coffee extra strong and without milk or sugar. He handed her a lovely mug of coffee, and she took a sip as he continued.
I'll be glad to help, but it's been a while since I did textbook work on Dynamic Entry, so you might also want to talk to Agent Clark downstairs--our Forensic Countermeasures expert doesn't talk to people not on the team much, but you've obviously made an impression on his fiancee, and that will help you a lot... Lucy nodded. She'd heard whisperings of the strange man from Division Six, but had yet to lay an eye on him.
I will seek him out after this... She smiled at the irony. The FBI was an unaware matchmaker, it seemed, for she'd met her own husband here. My husband works upstairs, CAC. I wonder if the Bureau knows how many couples it forces together with the crazy hours we all work... She shook her head, and took the books he extended with a grimace. Damn, they were heavy.
Is this just a refresher on the basics, or is there something a little more... special... coming up you're preparing for? She smiled.
Have you heard about that series of bank robberies?! We have reason to believe that one is happening tomorrow, and we want to be prepared...so it's mostly a refresher. I've been on maternity leave for awhile... It was amazing how rusty you got when the only thing you were "rescuing" was pacifiers.

Dave noticed that, oddly for a woman, she took her coffee black, and she didn't seem to have the attitude to have been in uniformed service herself at this age. "Military family?" he asked politely. "Even in our business, it's rare to see a lady take it... Jarhead Style," he observed, showing the Famous Rossi Smirk.
"Funny thing, that... you do know that a lot of the Bureau calls its fraternization policies Rossi Rules after me, right?" he joked, then continued. "Technically, they ARE a breach of protocol, but Agent Clark requires another agent's supervision at all times, so we let them have an exemption as long as they stay within reason, and their skills and personalities complement each other nicely, so they're more productive together than they'd be if we broke them up. It actually happens, also, that our former trainee from Interpol and I are involved, also..." he observed, noticing Ainsley out of the corner of his eye and tossing he an almost imperceptible wave.
He spent a few minutes discussing some of the peculiarities about forcing entry into a bank to rescue hostages, then remembered something else. "One other thing I should warn you about on my strange young protege... he's HRT qualified too, so he may try to get himself attached to your team for this case, pull some kind of crazy commando stunt like if you know what bank is the target planting himself undercover in it. Strange blend of arrogance and chivalry..."

David Rossi seemed surprised by her coffee choice. Military family?..."Even in our business, it's rare to see a lady take it... Jarhead Style. Lucy raised an eyebrow, but shook her head.
Brian, my older brother, taught me to drink coffee. He did a stint in the service before he went Missing in Action...and I guess I still do it in tribute, I suppose. My husband thinks I am crazy. She said this with a sad little chuckle. She missed her family-her parents were always absent, and her grandparents were gone, too, and until she'd met Roger, it had felt like her prison had been walking through her world all alone.
Lucy was just sipping and listening. She was fascinated, really, by the minutiae that made up these people. Several moments of this Agent Rossi's talking led her to believe that, actually, she might NOT be a good fit here. She wasn't tough enough, it seemed.
Funny thing, that... you do know that a lot of the Bureau calls its fraternization policies Rossi Rules after me, right? Technically, they ARE a breach of protocol, but Agent Clark requires another agent's supervision at all times, so we let them have an exemption as long as they stay within reason, and their skills and personalities complement each other nicely, so they're more productive together than they'd be if we broke them up. It actually happens, also, that our former trainee from Interpol and I are involved, also... Lucy simply nodded. This was a bit too personal of information, so she smiled sweetly.
I heard about that, sir...I am sure you had your reasons. It IS tough to work for the Bureau and still have a "normal" life. She had Roger and Phoebe, and they were all just learning how to juggle a family life together with cases that called them to wherever the wind took them.
Finally, Rossi began his lecture on the thing she had sought out, and reminded her of the difficulties of forced entry.
One other thing I should warn you about on my strange young protege... he's HRT qualified too, so he may try to get himself attached to your team for this case, pull some kind of crazy commando stunt like if you know what bank is the target planting himself undercover in it. Strange blend of arrogance and chivalry.. Lucy nodded once more.
I don't know yet; my team leader hasn't specified the exact location just yet. It's all very hush-hush-I get the impression that DCPD doesn't exactly WANT our help, but they do NEED it. She made a face. Why couldn't they all just get along?! Let her do her thing, the cops do THEIR thing, and justice would be served swiftly.
