Hotch is a nice guy that respects his teammates, family, and other people in general, save the serial killers. He is a natural born leader, and often is seen making decisions and giving orders. When he goes home, he focuses 100% on his family, and at work, he focuses 100% on work.

Overall History| Hotch was a federal prosecutor before he decided to join the FBI. His reason was because he wanted to stop the people before the cases found their way to his desk. He started his FBI career in Seattle, WA where he spent his probationary status and his Special Agent status. He also took part on the FBI Swat team their to. Upon reaching his supervisory Special Agent status, he was transfered to Quantico and was on the BAU team. This was back when that started. He worked his way through that where he eventually became the Unit Chief of the Team. He aspires to go all the way up in the FBI one day and is working diligently toward that goal.
He is also working to be the family man. He spends all the time he can at home with his wife, that he met in college, and his son, Jack. Jack looks up to Hotch and calls him a real hero. Jack also is seen dressing up like Hotch for Halloween. Hotch realized his true fear when Haley and Jack were threatened by the serial killer, The Reaper or George Foyet. Luckily the FBI and the BAU caught him moments before he would have killed Haley. After that Haley got back together with Hotch and now they are happy again.
