This case involves two Unknown Subjects (UnSubs), who drive a black utility van. They target their young male victims by posing as handymen and then, from there, watch their target carefully. None of the attacks are truly "random," and the suburbs of DC are filled with frightened parents.
The MO is kidnap in broad daylight, but since it's young children, no one has been able to give a good description. They keep the child (one at a time) for around 6 days. The usual victims are between 12-14, but Tristan was targeted for some reason. They will torture the boy, sexually assault, and then kill them. Throughout the week, the UNSUBs phone the victim's home, forcing the parents to listen to their child being tortured. On the Seventh day, a letter, in the child's handwriting, arrives at the family home at the same time the vics body is discovered.
Let's assume there has been three bodies found already, and that is why the Team is called in. Roger's team from CAC will be on backup, along with whatever help Daph can put in (if only for the sole purpose of protecting Max).
