Spencer arrived on the second floor. The elevator opened, and against his better judgement, he stepped out. He made his way down the hall. He wanted to see for himself. He had heard through the grapevine-well, actually, from Aimee, that Mia was back from her assignment. He wasn't sure. He just knew a few things: He missed her. He had acted wrongly. And he still wanted to be her boyfriend, her husband, if she'd still have him. He knew he was treading water. But he didn't know what else to do. He was having symptoms. He knew what those symptoms were-withdrawal. He had, simply, become addicted to loving her, and he was now on withdrawals.
But he didn't know if he'd be welcomed. He spotted her tiny figure, and smiled. How the HELL had Aimee known?! And when was he going to learn to trust her? He didn't know. Hopefully soon. He watched her, all the memories flooding back. He felt himself move forward. He was incapable of stopping. He could hear his conciousness warning him. But he didn't listen. He was only operating on pure adrenaline. At this point, he was powerless.
He smiled as he got closer. He just smiled, and spoke in a whisper, just one word.
Sweetheart... Where it had come from, he didn't know. He didn't know what was on his face, He did know that Agent Harrison was watching from his office. He hoped that she wouldn't throw something at him. Please just let this go Ok....

It wasn’t as if Mia had been trying to avoid running into Spencer on purpose. Not consciously, anyways. Just like she hadn’t been avoiding talking to her mother. She had just simply been busy due to being on assignment. But, she was back now, so why hadn’t she spoken to either of them yet? The woman knew why she hadn’t spoken to her mother or contacted Spencer, she was scared. The blonde was scared to find out just how badly her actions, or lack thereof, had messed things up. Sure, Spencer had done wrong, but so had she. The feeling of there being a gaping hole inside her, the nightmares, and an array of other things seemed like they were apt punishments for her inability to suck it up and face her fear head on. She’d forgiven Spencer quite some time ago, but what if he wasn’t willing to forgive her not saying so? The engagement ring he’d given her had only left her finger if it was absolutely necessary. The only thing that was worse than going to bed and waking up without him there was trying to pretend it didn’t hurt to love him so much and not have him there. Mia had been doing her best to push past that and do her job as best she could. She wasn’t sure if Roger would be sending her back to the BAU as a consultant or not. While she tried to act indifferent, Mia hoped he would. Standing there, sorting out some logistical issue regarding paperwork with someone, Mia nearly dropped all the files in her hands on the floor when she heard his voice. The sound of Spencer’s voice made Mia turn around to look at him, to see if he was really there. And when she saw that his tall figure, she was barely able to keep herself from crying. Tears welled up in her eyes and her voice broke as she spoke. ”Spencer..” It seemed crying couldn’t be helped as she set the papers down and walked over to be a little closer to her boyfriend, fiancé, future husband if he’d have her. ”I missed you.”

Spencer smiled in relief. She didn't seem mad. In fact, she seemed the opposite. Spencer...I missed you. He smiled again. That was nice to hear.
Me, too. When did you get in? You should call Aimee, she might die if you don't. Or so she said. He wwanted to ask her to explain everything, but he didn't want to overwhelm her. Mostly, he wanted her to know he was no longer mad. He HAD been, at first, but now he was just sad-sad to know that she felt that she couldn't tell him.

Spencer seemed like he wasn’t mad, which was a relief. Not that she wouldn’t understand if he was.
Me, too. When did you get in? You should call Aimee, she might die if you don't. Or so she said. She immediately felt guiltier. She hadn’t just left Spencer, but Aimee and DJ. Oh DJ, she missed the little girl almost as much as she had missed Spencer, if not more. Oh, what had she done in leaving? Duty to her country had come first, but at what price? She’d left things in an awful state.
How are you?
”I’m doing alright. I’ve been better. I only got in three days ago. How have you and the girls been? Ohh well, I have to call Aimee. I'd hate for her to die.”

I’m Doing Alright. I’ve Been Better. I Only Got In Three Days Ago. How Have You And The Girls Been? Ohh Well, I Have To Call Aimee. I'd Hate For Her To Die. Spencer smirked a little.
We're Ok. DJ still asks about you sometimes....and yes. No one would like it if Aimee died. Especially our father. He wouldn't be too pleased... Small talk. Is this what they were reduced to?? He hoped not.
Well, maybe we should catch up later? He asked. He didn't want to sound to hopeful. But she had left for a reason, and he wanted to know the reason.

"We're Ok. DJ still asks about you sometimes....and yes. No one would like it if Aimee died. Especially our father. He wouldn't be too pleased..." There was another yank on her heart even though she smiled at the knowledge that DJ had asked about her still. She missed the girl who she'd come to think of as her own daughter. Her face fell to being more serious at the jest of Aimee dying and Spencer's father not being too pleased.
"I've missed them both so much. I doubt Aimee would die that easily. I'm surprised she hasn't just tracked me down and given me an earful already." She deserved it. It was awkward, just making small talk with Spencer. Mia wanted to actually have a conversation with him, apologize at least. But, doing that in front of the rest of the CAC see,ed like it would be a bad idea.
"Well, maybe we should catch up later?"
Mia nodded, glancing at a clook and seeing that she should have probably taken a lunch break half an hour ago. Darn paperworl. "Sure, I was actually about to take my lunch break. So, maybe we could have lunch? That is, if you aren't busy." She rally hoped he wasn't, so she could explain and apologize. But, she didn't want to get her hopes up at that, much less the thought that he'd forgive her for suddenly leaving after everything.

I've Missed Them Both So Much. I Doubt Aimee Would Die That Easily. I'm Surprised She Hasn't Just Tracked Me Down And Given Me An Earful Already...Sure, I Was Actually About To Take My Lunch Break. So, Maybe We Could Have Lunch? That Is, If You Aren't Busy. Spencer just nodded.
Nope. Not busy. Let's go. He moved for the door, wanting to leave the building. He didn't want the whole world to know what he was going to say.

Nope. Not busy. Let's go. Spencer was already moving for the door as Mia set down her files and quickly managed to snatch up her lunch bag before following him on out the door. It wasn't like the majority of the CAC didn't know about what had happened, but Mia wanted to talk to Spencer in private. For it to be just the two of them again.
Once they were alone, Mia couldn't help it as the apology came out of her mouth. "I'm so sorry, Spencer. For leaving and not saying anything, for the fight, for not contacting you in or anyone in months. I just.. I'm an idiot."

Spencer led the way to a bank of empty seats in the CAC break room. He sat, his face neutral. He opened his lunch quietly-Aimee had packed this morning, and apparently, he'd gotten her bag by accident-or by design, as it was hard to tell with Aimee-and he found a PBJ, bag of Doritos, and an orange. A juice box rounded out the not-so-healthy meal.
Mia spoke.
I'm so sorry, Spencer. For leaving and not saying anything, for the fight, for not contacting you in or anyone in months. I just.. I'm an idiot. Spencer took a deep breath.
I am sorry for the fight, too...but why did you leave? Help me to understand.
Post by SSA Mia Dearden on Feb 14, 2014 19:12:43 GMT -5
Mia peeked over and saw the contents of Spencer's lunch. She knew that he not packed it himself, so it had likely been Aimee's work. Based on what was in it, she would bet that the bag was supposed to be Aimee's lunch. The girl could be devious though. So, it was possible that the teen had purposefully given Spencer the bag.
The blonde quietly opened her own bag, knowing very well that it would have a sandwich that she had thrown together, a sliced orange, and a thermos of sweet peach iced tea.
Spencer seemed to be doing pretty well. He didn't seem mad as she responded to her. I am sorry for the fight, too...but why did you leave? Help me to understand.
biting her lip, Mia took a deep breath in through her nose. "I didn't want to leave, Spencer. I really didn't, but I was reassigned rather suddenly. Have you heard of about the Genetti case? The fertility specialist who was running a rather large human trafficking organization that the CAC was getting ready to arrest? I had to be reassigned due to having a conflict of interest. Actually, two of them."
Mia unscrewed the top of her Thermos and took a drink of the sweet tea to try and keep herself calm. Swallowing hard, she decided it would best to just come out with it. Even though it was still a bit of a surprise to her. "Not only is Nicholas Genetti the man who was the head of the organization that I was born into and I had seen him a couple of times before being found. But," She took a breath, trying to get the words out of her mouth still. "he is also my biological father."

Spencer listened as he picked at Aimee's sandwich.
I didn't want to leave, Spencer. I really didn't, but I was reassigned rather suddenly. Have you heard of about the Genetti case? The fertility specialist who was running a rather large human trafficking organization that the CAC was getting ready to arrest? I had to be reassigned due to having a conflict of interest. Actually, two of them. He shrugged. He'd heard of it, but didn't knwo the details.
You could tell me. I could've helped you. What was the conflict? DId he WANT to know? One of Aimee's phrases popped into his head. "If it don't seem legit, it's probably not." He knew enough to know what "legit" meant, and for once, his sister's stupid slang actually MEANT something to him.
"Not only is Nicholas Genetti the man who was the head of the organization that I was born into and I had seen him a couple of times before being found. But...he is also my biological father."
He dropped the sandwich. What? He wanted to ask her a lot of questions, but his first instinct was to protect. He dropped his voice, and took her hand.
Mia, I am sorry. That is horrible, and it's a terrible way to find out. Please, what can I-WE-do?
Post by SSA Mia Dearden on Apr 16, 2014 11:21:18 GMT -5
Mia would have understood is Spencer said something about doubting her reason for not being involved in the Genetti case. Honestly, it sounded just like an excuse to her too. it had sounded like they just didn't want her working on the case. However, her superiors had once again, proved they really did know what they were doing. She really did want to smack herself for doubting them.
Mia, I am sorry. That is horrible, and it's a terrible way to find out. Please, what can I-WE-do? Spencer had dropped his sandwich in reaction to the news. His reaction was very similar to her own when she first heard the news. Mia was glad he hadn't choked on anything or spat out some kind of liquid. That would have made the whole thing just even more unpleasant and awkward.
"Forgive me? I don't think there is much more that anyone can do besides that." She looked at the dropped sandwich and reached into her own bag. Taking out half of her sandwich, she held it out to Spencer. "I wouldn't eat that now if I were you. Here, I can promise this hasn't fallen on the floor."

Spencer sat back, making a face. He wasn't really too sure about what was next.
Forgive me? I don't think there is much more that anyone can do besides that...I wouldn't eat that now if I were you. Here, I can promise this hasn't fallen on the floor. Spencer took her half sandwich, still silent. He wasn't sure what to say. Forgiveness was of, course, a big deal, but he didn't know how or where to start. It was still fresh for him.
I can't promise that. But we can try to be friends. Thanks...I am sure that the floors in here aren't that clean. It sounded so dumb, really.
Post by SSA Mia Dearden on May 22, 2014 11:40:39 GMT -5
Mia honestly hadn't expected to just come back and for things to just go back to the way they were. That wasn't how the world worked. I can't promise that. But we can try to be friends. Thanks...I am sure that the floors in here aren't that clean. Spencer's words sounded.. kind of lame. But, she understood. With a small grin, she nodded in agreement.
Friendship sounds like a good place to start. I know the bureau tries to keep the floors clean but. Well, a lot goes on in these offices.[/b] She paused for a second. "is it alright.. if I come over sometime? I know I left some of my things at ou-, your place. And I would really like to see DJ and Aimee."

I know I left some of my things at ou-, your place. And I would really like to see DJ and Aimee. Spencer's first instinct was to reject. He was still hurt, and upset, but on the other hand, he knew that the girls would like to see her, and she HAD some things at the house. He nodded reluctantly.
I think that's fine. Thursdays tend to be pretty quiet for us, unless Aimee gets herself into something. He sighed. His sister was getting closer and closer to leaving for college, and he was starting to realize that he really NEEDED her help. He finished his sandwich, and sat there, silently. He just didn't know what to say, and conversation was always awkward, anyway.
