» PARENTS:
Ramon and Elena Montero are Ramona's loving yet protective parents. Both hailing from the small town of Tonaca (short for Tonacatepeque) in El Salvador, Ramon was a Groundskeeper for the local Catholic church when he wasn't making money as a chef in a restaurant. Meanwhile, Elena was a Teacher who taught Kindergartners. They had met when Elena stepped into the restaurant that Ramon was working at while he was on break and it was love at first sight. After dating for 2 years, he had proposed to her after school was over for the day and the couple were then married a few months later. Because of the growing danger in the country, the couple had decided to leave and move to the United States, applying for Citizenship, with the hope of having a better life and being able to raise a family in peace. Ramon eventually opened up a Bodega (Spanish for a small Grocery Store) called 'Montero Bodega', wherein Elena ran her own small cafe inside simply called, 'Elena's Cafe'. Ready to start a family, the couple welcomed their first child, a son whom they had named Jaime. Five years later, the couple had welcomed a new bundle of joy in their life, a daughter whom they named Ramona.
» SIBLINGS:
Jaime Montero is Ramona's older brother and the reason she pursued a career in Criminal Investigation. While growing up, he was very athletic and participated in his school's soccer team since soccer was his favorite sport. Upon entering High School, he decided to continue playing the sport and was a star athlete, eventually having to deal with scouts who wanted him to play for their University and offered him full-ride scholarships. And while he loved the sport, he also made sure that his grades were good in order to set an example for his younger sister. Just when he was on top of the world, his life was cut short when he was gunned down by a gang member in a drive by while walking home from soccer practice one afternoon. His death, at the age of 18, had left the Montero family in pieces and made a huge impact on Ramona's life as she watched him die before her very eyes at the age of 13.

» OTHER IMPORTANT PEOPLE:
Ramona's Uncle/Godfather Luis was the person who taught her how to hold a handgun and shoot when she was 21, after she had told everyone that she wanted to pursue a career in Criminal Investigation. Not as an act of revenge but rather to make sure that no one had to go through an experience like that. He's supportive of her and acts as her father when she spends time with both him and her Aunt. Often tells her about the latest television programs he watches and recommends many to her. Meanwhile her Aunt/Godmother Rosario, Luis' wife, acts as her mother when Ramona visits. She has been known for visiting other relatives in El Salvador, usually during Easter, and brings back gifts for her family and Ramona's when she can. Often gossiping with Ramona's mother about whatever she found interesting. She has been known for spoiling Ramona with trips to the local Barnes and Noble or bringing her books in Spanish when she was learning how to read in Spanish.
» HISTORY:
The youngest and second child in the Montero family, Ramona was a happy and playful child. Growing up, she would come into the family's bodega after school or would spend a weekend at her Aunt and Uncle's place with her brother when her parents were busy running the store. When she was 10, Jaime had presented her with a white rosary as a gift and she had promised him that she would never take it off. She would go and support her brother at his soccer games and act as if she were his coach which brought looks of joy on her parents' faces, considering him to be a hero. Things were looking good for the Montero family. But then things took a sudden turn when Ramona was 13 and Jaime was 18. While watching an episode of Batman one afternoon, Ramona's mother, Elena, had received word that her son had been shot in a drive by at the hands of a gang member. Upon rushing to the hospital alongside her frantic mother, she witnessed her brother dying before her eyes as he bled to death and felt as if she had lost her best friend. When her father, Ramon, got there, they had to break it to him that he had just lost his son and just watching her parents fall apart nearly broke her. An investigation began but was never solved when they were told that no one who had seen anything the minute Jaime was shot was willing to speak. This sparked a fire in Ramona that would ultimately lead her to wanting a career in Criminal Investigation. She worked hard in school and eventually took up performing in her High School's Concert Choir since she wasn't an athlete like her brother was and she loved to sing, happy that she could still put a smile on her parents' faces after all that had happened and seeing how supportive they were of her.
Upon graduating High School, she began to study Criminal Justice at Pace University and minored in Psychology, wanting to explore the patterns of human behavior and why people do the things they do. She worked at the bodega in order to pay for tuition since she had been saving money for college from the minute she started working there at the age of 16. Her parents constantly showing her support after she had told them about the promise that she had made to herself after Jaime's death. Along the way, she had developed a love for Pop Culture and would quote phrases from movies or television shows to the point where her friends and family had to keep up with how many films and television programs she had seen. Sometimes she would even surprise her parents when she would quote old movies. When she graduated with her Bachelor's, she decided to apply to train at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Viginia, where she learned that she liked learning about the arrest process and that she got to fire a handgun after her Uncle had taught her how to hold one when she was 21. She also took up self-defense training in order to build a little muscle for when she would have to get her hands dirty out on the field. When she completed her training at the FBI Academy, she worked in the Office of Law Enforcement Coordination's Criminal Investigative Division for 5 years before asking for a transfer to the BAU in Quantico. Upon becoming a Profiler for the BAU, she remembered to keep the promise she made all those years ago and often visits her brother's grave whenever she has the time. She still makes Pop Culture references and occasionally reads comic books in her office, when she isn't busy solving cases or spending hours on Netflix, updating her knowledge of the comic book world. She has also been called 'Mona Lisa' by her colleagues because of her smile and her kind nature towards others at the office.

She had been given a new case, but she sat in her office and played with the white rosary her brother gave her when she was ten. She sat back in her chair, closing her eyes and remembering the reason why she was so quiet. Others were asking her why she hadn’t made a joke or a pop culture reference the whole day thus far, but she didn’t want to tell anyone about it. She didn’t want to relive that day. But she did, whether she wanted to or not, and it caused her to shed a single tear and make a note to visit him after work. Buying a bouquet of flowers beforehand, of course. If she closed her eyes, she could hear her mother screaming and her father wailing which made her eyes well up with more tears and it became difficult for her to swallow. She shook her head, putting the memory aside until after work, knowing that there was a case that needed to be solved. She rubbed her eyes, making sure that there weren’t going to be any more tears shed.
“Jesus, why do I do this to myself?” She thought about the promise she made and how she never wanted anyone to go through that. “Alright,” she began, as she cracked her knuckles, “let’s get to some reading.” Her eyes had wandered over to her laptop, tempting her to get on Netflix for a few hours. “No, I have to read about this case. I can binge watch both Firefly and Serenity for the hundredth time later.” She closed the laptop and began reading the file, not realizing that she wasn’t picking up anything she was reading. Finally, she placed the file on her desk and smiled. “Oh, who the hell am I kidding? It’s time for some thrilling heroics!”
