Just thought a little technical data about the various aircraft featured on the show, and Clark's additions to the stable, might be useful for RP travel-planning. The big G550's can't go everywhere; different planes have different runway-length requirements (especially in nasty weather) and also have "minimum effective ranges". If you're going anywhere within around 200 miles of Quantico, firing up the big boys is a waste and you're just as well served with a helicopter, which also adds the advantage of direct point-to-point airlift straight to the Federal office building or police station closest to destination without having to deal with motorcades and traffic. Within about 60-100 miles, depending on infrastructure, surface transportation takes the advantage.
Goal of this project: to collect and present comparative data on all the aircraft available to the BAU, between the "canon" bizjets and Clark's private stable (which are mainly military aircraft, but can be useful if you need to get Clark & Reid or an up-to-3-agent-plus-Clark "Advance Section" out in a hurry), and shed some light on their capabilities and limitations as I know them as a flight student.
Known aircraft involved: (specs later)
(FBI/charter) Gulfstream G100 (N100GA, in "Risky Business")
--Range 2700mi, speed 460kt
--Pax 4, bags 885#, cabin dims unknown
(FBI) Gulfstream IV
--Range 4860mi, speed 460kt
--Pax 14-19, bags
(FBI) Gulfstream 450
--Range 5010mi, speed 460kt
--Pax 12-16
(FBI) Gulfstream V (N5GV, in "Risky Business")
--Range 5800nm, speed 488kt
--Pax 14-19, bags ~2500lb.
(FBI) Gulfstream 550 (N550GA)
--as per G-V, but:
--Range 6750nm/7760mi
--Pax 14-17
--Min T/O: 5910', usually more like 9010'
(FBI) Dassault Falcon (unknown model but probably the 50, it's the rare 3-engine jet)
---------------------
Clark's "private air force":
EA-6B Prowler, callsign "GENESIS 505" (upgraded, Clark usually runs with 2 MXU-648 baggage pods and either 3 drop-tanks or 2 tanks and an SUU-23A 20mm Gatling gun in place of jammers)
--Range 2000mi, speed 418kt ("standard model", Clark's flies farther and faster)
--Pax 3 plus pilot, cabin N/A (2+2 cockpits), bags somewhat limited
--Special Mods: Clark's was rebuilt to the prototyped-only ADVCAP variant, then has been consistently upgraded to the point that it's actually more advanced than even the EA-18G Growlers that are replacing its siblings. Engines have been replaced, 2x 40,000-lb thrust P&W F135s with thrust-vectoring afterburners instead of the old 10K# P&W J52's--basically, it's had the guts of two F-35 JSF's stuffed into it, and it can not only accelerate straight up but can also do a Harrier-style vertical takeoff. Also, Clark's Prowler has enough additional power, and enough of a stronger airframe, that it's the only supersonic-capable member of the A-6 Intruder family.
F-14 Tomcat (a stolen Iranian -A, upgraded beyond F-14D specs): Clark's has been modified up to ASF-14 "Tomcat 21" standards, and then further refined--as with his Prowler, it's actually fitted with experimental systems intended for the next generation past the Super Hornets that replaced the F-14 fleet, and even some systems more advanced than those of an F-22 Raptor (which Clark has actually beaten with this aircraft in "Red Flag" air-combat exercises). Uses the same F135s as his Prowler, but is not capable of vertical takeoff due to exhaust placement. (Still does Mach 1 straight up once airborne, though!) Specs are for "standard" F-14D:
--Range 1150mi, speed Mach 2.34
--Pax 1 plus pilot
Cessna Citation CJ4
--Range 2000nm, speed 450kt
--Pax 8 plus 1-2 pilots plus bags (9 if passenger in copilot seat)
--Special mods: Clark's has been refit with a centerline station to accommodate either a drop-tank or gun pod, and can have wingtip LAU-7 launch rails for Sidewinder heat-seeking air-to-air missiles fitted but seldom does. It's also been up-engined, and gotten the standard Clark "lighter/stronger materials" total rebuild. It may not be quite as fast as the big G550's or as long-endurance unrefueled, but it can sneak into and out of small-town airstrips 1/3 of the length the big boys require.
NMH-53X Pave Low/Pave Predator (Blackout)
--Range ~600mi, speed 200mph
--Pax up to 30, baggage practically unlimited for BAU purposes--can even transport a sedan or sportscar inside the hold, without using an external sling.
--Special mods: See "Clark's Technologies" thread.
Trivial note: All of the aircraft exterior shots on CM are from Dassault and Gulfstream promotional footage.
I have a request to help with this project: whenever y'all see a shot of the various jets, if you can get the N-number (the "license plate", usually on the tail or engine) and episode I'd appreciate it--with that number I can look up make and model and add them to this database.
