Visiting JJ

[SSA Dr. Spencer Reid]

Spencer turned his car down the road towards JJ's home; he was glad she agreed to see him. He needed advice; if he was going to propose to Signe, he'd need to do it properly, and she'd said as much. He needed JJ's advice on the ring and how to do it, and how soon they should tell everyone.

He got one red light, which frustrated him, but in just a few minutes, he pulled up in front of her house, and rang the bell. He smiled as Will let him in, and gestured to the family room.

JJ had been spending the day with Henry and Will. They tried to make it a goal to have one day with family. When Spencer called saying he really needed to talk to her about something she was more than willing to have him over. Henry had been wanting to see him anyways. She was always amazed at how good Spencer was with children. She assumed it had something to do with Signe. He was always asking her about what he should be doing. When would he learn that sometimes you needed to take a chance on things.

When he finally showed up Will ushered him into the family room. JJ had just finished helping Henry with finger painting. The boy was turning into quite the artist. She stood up and gave her friend a big old hug. She smiled as she pulled away from him and went to sit down. "So....Hows future daddy. I'm sorry for not telling you Spence. I wanted to I really did. I just know how is can be for a woman when she gets pregnant. Please forgive me."

[SSA Dr. Spencer Reid]

Spencer sighed. He picked up Henry, who had toddled into the room, and held him close. He spoke to JJ.

"I am sorry I was rude. I was just so upset that Signe kept it from me. I mean, I understand *why* she did, but I am her boyfriend, and I expected that we would have no secrets. But I did want your advice about that, actually.

I asked Signe to marry me this morning, and I wanted your input on an idea I had. In my safe deposit box at the bank, I have the ring that my father gave to my mother. Do girls like that kind of thing, or should I buy her a new one? I want to do it soon; tonight, if possible. We're supposed to have dinner, and then we're calling our families. Well, she's calling her family. I will write my mom; she doesn't do well with the phone."

JJ smiled and started getting all excited. Spencer was getting married and going to be a daddy. His idea was amazing. She knew that Signe would just love it. Though she was tough on the outside she knew how to appreciate the sappy love stories. Signe would always talk about it. She gave Spencer another hug.

"Spencer that's great! I am so happy for you. I think Signe would love it if you gave her your mother's ring. She likes the romantic old fashioned stuff like that." She took Henry from Spencer and set him down. Will came in and called him out of the room so the two of them could talk. JJ saw down on the couch and motioned for Spencer to do the same. "So what do you think your mom will think about all this?"

Spencer smiled as he released his godson, and scooted forward to speak to JJ. He smiled when she assured him that Signe would like the plan, and then she asked him about how his mother would react. He was scared of her reaction; he had never spoken to her about women, in the romantic sense, but he knew that his mother was a little on the possesive side.

"I hope she'll be happy, but she's going through a tough time right now. The doctors have her on a new med, and it's making her a little more paranoid than usual. But she has always told me that when the time comes, I should make sure to choose a nice girl."

JJ nodded when he said his mother was on some new meds. She knew how much he cared about his mother. She was a very sweet woman, she was just sick...Nothing wrong with that. She nodded at what he said about his mother saying she wanted him to pick a nice girl when he decided to marry someone. "We you definitely did that. Signe's a great girl."

She looked around the room looking for something that would speak to her as far as advice went. "Do you know where you are going to take her for dinner? Are you going to have a romantic dinner at home or what?"

[SSA Dr. Spencer Reid]

Spencer shrugged; he hadn't worked that part out.

"I don't know. I was thinking of that steakhouse near Georgetown. But I hadn't really thought that far ahead. I was just happy that we were OK again. But really, I think this is the right decision," he added quickly, just so JJ wouldn't think he was making this descision hastily.

"Thats good that you are happy and I think it's the right decision for you two. I am glad that you two are okay. I knew you would be but it was still sad to see you two not on good terms." She said remembering the past few days at work, seeing them together but not to happy was hard. She knew Spencer still loved her but he was angry. And he had a right to be. But they both weren't at fault...It was hard.

"The steak house would be nice. Signe likes that kind of thing. I do know however that she loves your cooking. She's always going on about how much she loves your cooking." She said the last part jokingly. Though he was very good at following instructions...He had the potential to be a good cook.

[SSA Dr. Spencer Reid]

Spencer smiled when JJ commented that she was glad they were happy. He was, too, he hated fighting with Signe. Not that he thought that they were going to be happy and perfect all the time; he was too much of a realist for that, but he knew that the past three days had been hell.

He replied.

"Can you walk me through something spectacular again? I am thinking maybe a nice roasted chicken, something awesome on the side, and....water for her. But maybe a nice wine for me." He chuckled, realizing that thier shopping and diet habits would have to change.

JJ laughed when he asked if she could talk him through something amazing for dinner. She nodded and sat back in the couch. "We can look through my recipe book and see what you think she would like." She stood up and walked over to the bookshelf and looked through the recipes in the book. As she flipped through she thought about her and Will. She kept hoping that he would ask her to marry him but so far she had no such luck.

[SSA Dr. Spencer Reid]

"Thanks, JJ," Spencer said, as she stood and crossed to the bookshelf, selecting a cookbook. He took a moment to glance around the room before speaking.

"So, have you and Will talked anymore about marriage? I mean, wouldn't it be cool to do a big double wedding? It would be so Thomas Hardy."

JJ looked into the kitchen to make sure that Will wasn't in there before responding. She sighed and shrugged her shoulders when she was sure that he was gone with Henry and wouldn't hear anything. She wanted to marry Will so badly, but she didn't wanna ask him. Last time she brought it up he simply said that he didn't see the need to. They were doing just fine not being married...Why should they?

"He doesn't see the point. He figures we are happy enough without being married and that we don't need to get married to be in love."

[SSA Dr. Spencer Reid]

Spencer suddenly wrapped his arms around JJ.

"If he were me, I'd have done it a long time ago. As long as he makes you happy, that's what's important. Thank you for always being my friend. I appreciate it." He blushed, and released her, then spoke again.

"Sorry, being in love makes me sappy." He turned away, his face burning; he'd never expressed his gratitude and friendship to JJ like that before, and wasn't sure how it would be recieved.
