Signe smiled when Spencer gave him the hurt look when she said no Star Trek. She watched him look over the movies, she looked at her phone which was in her hands and saw a text message from Garcia. She had asked if she would look up some things involving a murder that she thought sounded odd. When she said odd she meant that when she went over the article in the paper certain things reminded her of the rapist she had encountered. Garcia had mentioned that the girl was enrolled in the University of Illinoise and was majoring in Psychology. She transferred to a school in DC and was found murdered with signs of rape.
She sighed, she knew something was weird about this murder she just couldn't put her finger on it. She looked up when Spencer said something about the movie. She smiled and nodded. That would be nice. "Sounds like a plan."

Spencer noticed an odd expression on his girlfriend's face, but decided not to question it; he was sure she'd tell him in time. Besides, it didn't seem too serious, and he was betting it was her mother again. He smiled at her, started the movie, and settled on the couch, reaching out and pulling her close to him.
He inhaled deeply; the smell of her hair and the perfume she wore were so intoxicating. He could stay wrapped up in her smell all night. He was so happy since he'd met her, and he was truly grateful she was his. Of all the other men in the world, and Signe could have any man she'd wanted, she'd chosen him, and it still surprised him to this day.
They were settling into a routine thing now. He'd seen her without makeup, and of course, she was still gorgeous. She'd seen him stressed out and annoyed, and she still stayed. They'd shopped together, and he'd even toughed out her buying feminine products once. They'd discussed safe sex only once, though it had been Signe that had brought it up, telling him she was on the Pill, and he'd just nodded.
He kissed her neck now, and shifted his weight, pulling her even closer.
She settled down with her boyfriend, boyfriend...It sounded so natural. They were moving forward like every couple should. They felt comfortable, like it was normal for them. She felt like this was meant to be. She checked her phone, trying to make sure Spencer couldn't see the text. She had responded to the other one asking her to let her know if she found anything else and Garcia had replied with 'you got it love.' She put her phone on the coffee table. She felt Spencer's lips on hers and she smiled. She turned and gave him a kiss. She smiled and took in how great he smelled. She didn't ever wanna leave. She just wished they could move in together and be done with it.
She turned back and looked at the tv, watching it intently. She was relaxed, something she had missed. The only way this could get worse would be if they got called in on a case. That would just be her luck. She decided now was a good time to get out of her dress. She stood up and smiled back at her boyfriend. "I need to borrow some clothes. I'm not spending the whole night in this dress." She stood up and walked over to his bedroom. The room looked nice and clean. He had obviously done a lot to make her feel comfortable in his apartment.
She walked over to his dresser and pulled out a pair of pj bottoms. She put them on and continued to grab a spare under shirt on the bed. She took her dress off and pulled it on. She looked around the room and flopped onto the bed. She took in a deep breath and let it all out. This murder she had read was buggin her and keeping it from the team was going to be tough. Keeping a secret from profilers was tricky and she was surprised that Spencer hadn't asked her about it yet.

Spencer smiled as Signe returned his kiss, liking the feelings it was giving him. He planned to wait just a little bit longer before suggesting that she move in; or maybe they could into her place. It WAS bigger...they could work it out. He could sense that something was wrong; she was hiding her cell phone from him, and the look in her eye was distant.
She spoke, asking him to borrow some clothes, and then she stood and entered the bedroom. He could hear her changing, and as she left, she put her phone on the coffee table. The profiler in him wanted desperatly to read it, but the boyfriend in him knew better.
A few moments later, it fell silent, and he waited for a moment. Then, he stood, entering the bedroom. He found her laying across his bed, her dress rumpled on the floor, and wearing his old clothes. He stood in the doorway for a moment, and then crossed to the bed, settling gently at the foot. He spoke, keeping his tone gentle and loving.
"Sweetheart, what's going on?" He hoped it was nothing serious. He continued. "Please, tell me what's bothering you. I thought it was just your parents, but I don't think so anymore. I can help." He spread himself across the bed, his front against her back, and stroked her hair, waiting for her response.
Signe heard Spencer walk into the room and sit down, asking her what was wrong. She knew she should tell him about what she was doing. Tell him that she was trying to find the sick bastard that ruined her life. She sat up and looked at him. She got up without saying anything and walked over to her purse. She grabbed the article that was in her purse and walked back over to Spencer's bedroom and set them down on the bed.
As he read it she sat there watching him. "Garcia looked up the info on the victim...She went to the same school I did majoring in Psychology and transfered here." She paused and looked at him. If anyone was going to find something that would give them a lead it would be him. "He's back. There's things in this murder that are totally his signature. You know that you witnessed it." She hoped and prayed he would notice something. "What do you think?"

Spencer sat reading the article she'd handed him. He breathed in and out, suddenly feeling a mixture of fear and protectiveness for Signe. He looked up at her and gathered her in his arms. He kissed her and then spoke.
"I see the signature, too. This might be bad. Here's what we'll do. Tonight, we'll go to your place, you can pack some stuff, and we'll bring Phoenix here. You two can stay here; it's safe. I'll tell the doorman to buzz everyone. Tomorrow, we will talk to JJ; we can get the team involved. Also, we need to see Hotch; this is turning serious. Anyway, you will stay with me until your parents come, and then I'll move in with you while they're here. We'll make something up if we have to." He paused, and touched her face, then stood and changed his clothes. He turned back to her.
"Ok, I am going to turn everything off; we'll leave the dishes for the morning. I want you to be armed at all times from now on; and I will be, too. Leave your car at your house; it sucks, but if it's him, he knows what you drive. Also, I hate to sound possesive, but I would really prefer it if you didn't go anywhere alone, OK? Even if it's not with me, take JJ or Penelope or Derek. Hell, take Strauss, just so long as you're not alone." He ran out of the room and flipped off the TV.
He returned to find Signe still sitting on the bed. He crossed over to her, and kissed her square on the lips.
"Shortcake, we'll deal with this. It will all be OK. I am here for you."
Signe watched as Spencer began taking matters into his hands. He wanted to get the whole team in on it. He was saying that they would go get some stuff and Phoenix and bring him here. She would stay here with him until her parents came home. Until they found this sicko she would be keeping her gun on her at all times, not going anywhere alone. This was insane. She stood up when he came back and told her he would be there for her. She smiled at him and gave him a kiss before walking out of the bedroom and to her purse. She took her gun out of her bag and placed it on her hip. He was in DC, they couldn't take any chances anymore.
She turned to look at Spencer. She sighed, this wasn't what she was wanting to do tonight. "We can have a friend of mine keep Phoenix. She takes care of him when I leave on cases and she's just down the street from my house." She knew he was trying to help her but she knew that Spencer and Phoenix weren't on good terms and he was a big dog. He didn't belong in an apartment. She grabbed a file from her purse and handed it to Spencer. If he was going to help her with this he was going to need to see all the info Garcia had gotten her from the case report and all her records. Everything pointed to him. She was just like Signe and all the other girls.
"Go ahead and look over that. She was just like all the other girls and me. I had Garcia do a check on her." She walked out the door knowing that Spencer was right behind her and walked down the stairs. "I'll take my car and you can take yours. I'll leave my car there and come back in yours."

Spencer nodded at her words, and before they left, he rushed into the bedroom and located his holster. He double-checked his weapon to make sure it was ready, and then he holstered it on his hip. He looked at himself in the mirror for a moment; this date wasn't exactly going the way he'd planned, but he knew that if anything at all happened to Signe while she was with him, he wouldn't be able to live with it.
He returned to the living room as Signe spoke, telling him that she would drive her car, and he could bring his, and they'd return together. She also suggested that Phoenix could stay with a friend. He grimaced; he wanted her to have something to soothe her, but then he realized his little one-bedroom apartment wasn't exactly dog-friendly. Especially not her large dog.
She handed him a file, and he spoke to her.
"This is the info that Garcia has found? Let me guess: female brunette psychology majors with a penchant for girls who looked like his stepsister? He's so lucky I haven't found him yet." Spencer shook his head and followed her outside and down the steps to the parking lot. He stopped her as she tried to get into her car.
"Hang on, I want to check it." He pulled out the flashlight he always kept in his holster, and shined it through her windows. It looked clear, and he nodded. "Go ahead and climb in slowly." He knew he sounded insane, and he felt like one, but he really, really needed to keep her safe. He would feel so much better when she was wrapped up in his arms, tucked in his bed, windows and doors locked to the outside world.
He motioned for her to roll down the window once he figured it was safe. He spoke, smiling lightly.
"Keep your phone on, just in case we get separated or something, OK?" He leaned in for a kiss, and then hurried onto his car. He climbed in and began to follow her down the street. At a nearby red light, he sent her a quick text.
"Sorry for being so weird. It's just that I care. I need you to know that. Love, Spock." He hit send, and continued on his way.
Signe drove to the house wanting nothing more than to catch the guy. She arrived at her house after not to long only to find her bedroom light on. Something she didn't remember doing. She could have sworn that she turned the light off. She turned her car off and grabbed her gun. She could hear Phoenix barking as if he was outside. That didn't make any sense. She left him inside.
She walked to the house, turning behind her to make sure Spencer had her back. She walked into the house and saw Phoenix in the back yard freaking out. She grabbed her flashlight and clicked it on. Nothing was in the front room or the kitchen. She walked down the hall, flashing it in the bathroom and the guest room as she passed them. The real destination was her bedroom.
She arrived at her room. Everything was scatter everywhere, her light was on and on her bed, the top was covered with pictures of Signe and Spencer. You would have to be stalking someone to have these kinds of photos. Some of them were from cases. In the center was one blown up photo of them at lunch. Spencer was kissing her cheek. She grabbed a shirt from her hamper and picked it up, not wanting to contaminate any of it. On the photo blood was smeared all over it. On the back, was a note.
'Did you really think that you could leave me for him? Did you think you could just move on? You know I am the only one who can make you happy. I promise you we will be together again and he will see that I am the only one who can make you happy.'
She sighed and turned, handing him the photo. She looked around the room. It was a mess, she needed to get out. She walked into her closet and grabbed a go bag. It had a few of everything, it was for those long trips. She came back out and sighed. "I'm going to go put this in your car and get Phoenix to my friends house..." She walked out of the room and out to her dog. She put her gun away and greeted her friend who was whimpering. She pet him and soothed him. She needed to get him to her friends house.
Not long after she came back and saw Spencer still in the bedroom. She didn't want to be here anymore...She needed to get out. "Do you think calling the team can wait till tomorrow morning?" She hoped he would say yes. They could lock the house up and leave. Or they could leave and they could just call the cops. She just couldn't stay there.

Spencer followed Signe close. He hated that she took the lead, but he let her-he was worried about how worried she was. He pulled his gun and flashlight, ready to advance if she needed him, and he noticed the light in her bedroom was on, and it sounded like Phoenix was outside. This was odd; she loved the dog, and the animal pretty much had full run of the house. He also knew her habits; forgetting to turn a light off was very unlike her. So either she was so excited to see him tonight, or else something else was going on.
He breathed a sigh of relief when he realized the front two rooms were empty; Signe hurried down the hall towards her bedroom. He stayed behind a moment, sensing she needed a moment to take in what was happening. He looked carefully around; nothing had been taken or was out of place-his edietic memory made him remember every single detail of her home, down to the color of the last washcloth he'd borrowed when he came over the other day.
He heard her voice speaking to him, holding her duffel. She told him she was going to put the bag in his car, and then get the dog. As she left, he went to her bedroom, and the damage done both frightened and irritated him. There were pictures-of cases, of thier private moments, of Signe-everywhere. One of them was bloodied, and on one, whomever this person was had written a threat-He would love her more than Spencer.
He sighed, and carefully replaced the photos on her bed, and exited as Signe returned. She wanted to leave, and he didn't blame her. He nodded, and turned off the light, shutting the door tightly behind them. He followed her back out to the front room, and spoke.
"Signe, dear, I think it's time to go. Let's just leave this for the morning; we can call the police then, and the team, too. Let's get Phoenix secured, and then we'll go home, OK? If you don't feel like sleep, I understand. We can just sit around, quietly." He sighed, but indicated the front door.
His mind was working overtime, as usual. It might be time for them to get away together; but no, that wouldn't work with her parents coming. Maybe they could go to Illinois, instead. He was at a loss as to how to keep her safe; all of his ideas were either outlandish or otherwise wouldn't work. He sighed. Well, at the very least, he could be there for her. He spoke again as they climbed into his car. He put the key into the ignition, and double-checked his blind spot and mirrors before turning to her.
"Shortcake, please, tell me what you need from me, and I will do it, OK? Never be afraid to tell me, even if it seems silly or inconsequential. I need to keep you safe and here with me, OK? I love you." He bit his lip, and blushed in the dark, but he was sincere and he hoped she knew it.
Signe walked out to the car, leash in hand. Phoenix was pretty calm around Spencer. She smiled, it was nice knowing that he was warming up to Spencer. Or maybe he just knew Spencer was here to help. They got into the car and Signe opened the back door letting Phoenix climb in. Before getting into the car she looked at her house. The one place she felt the safest was no longer safe.
When he said he loved her she smiled and blushed a little. Those words had never left his lips until now. She leaned in and gave him a kiss. "I love you to. Lets just get Phoenix to his temporary home. I called my friend and she's expecting us right now."
They drove down the street and stopped at her friend's house. She walked the dog up to the house and her friend greeted her. She gave her friend a hug and when her friend asked where Signe was staying she pointed to Spencer who was sitting in the car. She gave her friend a hug and walked over to the car. She climbed in and looked at Spencer.
"So Jamie said she'll watch Phoenix for as long as I need her to." She looked out the window and then back to Spencer. "So are we going home now?" She said looking at him.

Spencer sat quietly on his drive to her girlfriend's house. He can't believe the words that had just left his mouth, but at least she said it back. And he believed her. It was a little fast, and truly, the most reckless thing he'd ever done-let himself fall for her. But now she needed him, and it was good to be needed. They were both quiet as they pulled up in front of her friend Jamie's house, and Signe and Phoenix climbed out.
Phoenix had been well behaved, and he'd read once that animals, and dogs in particular, are very sensitive to their surroundings, and so he tried to put out a protective vibe to tell the dog he was there to help keep his owner safe. He couldn't bring himself to call Signe his "Mommy", but he did understand the bond they had. He'd had a cat when he was a kid, and when his dad took the cat when he left the family, Spencer had missed the animal immensely.
He spoke to Signe as she climbed back into the car and asked if they were going home. He had smiled at the word; his home could be hers...
"Yes, my dear, unless you really want to go to the police or call Hotch and JJ first. But I think it's OK to deal with in the morning. We can go to my place, and we'll get you settled in." He leaned over and kissed her, hoping to be able to soothe her as much as he could. He took her hand in his, and began the drive towards home.
Signe looked out the window as he spoke. She just wanted to get somewhere where she could at least try and relax. "I just need to get somewhere where I can relax." She didn't look at him. She just looked out the window and watched all the images go by in the night. This couldn't be happening again.
The drive didn't take to long. Soon Spencer's apartment was in her view. They pulled into the parking lot and she sighed as they climbed out. Something she couldn't quite understand. How was he able to lay and wait for so long? She had been gone for so long and she never heard anything that made her think about her rape. This guy remained dormant for so long...But how?
She climbed out of the car and carried her bag with her into the building. She walked up the stairs, not saying a word. She walked like she had seen a ghost. Everything she remembered going through her head. She needed to relive what happened. She needed to ask Spencer to do the hardest thing she could imagine him doing at this point. She needed him to give her a cognitive interview.
She walked into the apartment and walked right into his bedroom. She put her bag on the bed and went into the bathroom. She washed her face a little bit and looked in the mirror. She was tired...Anyone could see that. She walked out into the living room and looked at Spencer. "Spenc...I need you to do something for me." She took a deep breath. If they weren't going to call the cops then she wanted to work on this at home. "I want you to give me a cognitive interview." She didn't give him time to say no before she continued. "If we are going to get a head start on this guy then I need to go back and relive this memory."
Post by SSA Dr. Spencer Reid on Jul 13, 2011 0:34:44 GMT -5
Spencer looked her over as they entered his apartment again. She was quiet, but he could tell her brain was quickly working, likely revisiting the things that had happened to her, trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together. He knew the look in her eyes; he'd seen it in Garcia, when she'd been shot, and in Prentiss's on a few occasions, and once, even Hotch, when the Reaper was after Jack and Hayley.
He meandered into the kitchen, lost in his own thoughts about Signe's case, things that were coming to him, about how the profile had failed-they couldn't figure out how the unsub was able to stalk his victims for so long without someone-anyone-becoming suspicious. They had thought that he had been charismatic enough to just wiggle his way in, but Spencer had had his doubts, as did Morgan. Both men believed the man was just really good at stalking girls, and had needed to be stopped. Of course, they had been too late to stop him, but not too late to save Signe. He smiled and handed her some tea as she appeared in the kitchen, a look on her face that he didn't recognize-maybe one of resolution.
Then she spoke. Her words rocked him for a moment-was she serious? She wanted him to conduct a cognitive interview? He had half a mind to say no, but then he realized that he would probably be the best one to do it-he knew her well, and he loved her, and would make sure she always felt safe. He inhaled, sipped his tea, and then spoke.
"I will do it. BUT on one condition-we stop if it gets too bad for you, ok? Do you want to do it now, or should we do it in the morning?"
Signe knew she had to agree with him if she was going to convince him to do this. She needed to do it now, she needed to do it while everything was fresh in her memory. She took a sip of her tea and shook her head when he asked if she wanted to do it in the morning. "No Spencer, I need to do it tonight." She looked at him and sighed. She was ready to do this.
She walked with him over to the couch. She got herself comfortable and placed her hands in his. She took in a deep breath and looked at him. "I feel like something is hidden deep down inside and this is going to help us find it." She said looking into his eyes. She smiled and gave him a kiss, he looked worried about her. "Come on...I'm an FBI agent...I'll be fine." she said trying to lighten the mood.
